The village is inhabited by Chokri Chakhesang Nagas with its own distinct culture and tradition. In olden times, the Village was often called to perform folk dances in all kinds of VVIP visits wherein on one occasion they were fined by Naga nationalist group for performing during the PM of India Indira Gandhi's visit to Nagaland. It has its own myths, legend, folklore, folk songs, folk dances which has been passed down from generation to generation through oral tradition. In olden times, village being a sovereign entity in itself, the clan defines the identity of a person and outside the clan, he/she has no identity to speak off. Morung (Chethi) plays a central role in the life of a person which act as a schooling institution where a person is trained in the art of life. Peer group (melekro) also plays an important role in moulding the personality of a person where each and every person belongs to a peer group. Feast of merit forms another prominent culture of the village where a person who managed to offer a feast to the village community becomes entitled to certain symbolic house, dress and social distinction in the society. It is an elaborate process though. Life exist in close relationship with nature and day to day life revolve around agriculture cycle. Traditionally, lunar calendar was the mode of counting days of the year where there are 12 months in a year. Some of the major festivals are, Sukrenye which fall every year on 15thJanuary, Tshunye which falls in the month of August and Therinye which falls in the month of December. All these festivals are celebrated with much fanfare and gaiety which can be a source of interest for tourist and cultural enthusiasts.
